New York - July 2023.
I hope this finds you well: Defeater and Caspian Bring Down the House in New York.

Kicking off my Psychedelic World Tour, I fist stop in New York to visit Alex Grey's Chapel of Sacred Mirrors. As fate would have it, one of my all-time favorite bands, Defeater, was scheduled to perform in Brooklyn that very weekend.
The walk to Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn was filled with a cool sense of anticipation. I really love the area! The opening acts were decent, but when Caspian hit the stage, it was a whole different ballgame. Their performance was nothing short of a revelation. An absolute masterpiece, captivating the entire room with their sound, presence, and ethereal atmosphere. I became a fan after one song. Isn't it cool when you don't know a band at all and discover them in a show? That's such an incredible feeling!

And then came Defeater. Their set was like a plunge into the depths of sincerity and obscurity. It was like a soul cleanse. Their lyrics are brutally honest, painting vivid pictures of life's trials and tribulations.
Defeater stands in a league of their own, marked by unmatched authenticity and sincerity. Their lyrics boldly delve into the depths of the human experience, fearlessly exploring its darkest corners. They unapologetically lay bare the raw and haunting aspects of existence—pain, loss, and vulnerability.
What truly distinguishes Defeater is their unwavering commitment to this unflinching portrayal of life's struggles.
They tackle difficult themes with emotional intensity, channeling their authenticity into every note and lyric.
Their performance filled the venue with an energy that reminded me, down to my bones, why I fell in love with hardcore in the first place.
